Today, in unnecessary car shopping with E90M3, we come across a 1M. !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! that has only done 26k. This one is finished in Alpine White, one of the three colors you could buy them in, with the black interior with orange stitching, which was the only interior option.
While we’re on the subject of options, BMW didn’t give you a chance to ruin the car by selecting a DCT. No, you could either row your own or go and buy another car.
!!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! I would recommend it to anyone. I was thinking about buying one when I got my M3 in 2014, as they were both about 50k. Sometimes I wonder if I made the right decision, this isn’t making it any easier. So, WilliamsSW, you going to nix the idea of a Benz and get this?

Aren’t the 1's fwd?
If so, no thx. I’ll take my bmw’s rwd, with a side of, um, sideways. Especially at 50 grand+++.

Considering those cars appreciated right off the lot this smells fishy. I’m in though. You could buy it and flip it at that price.

No...the 1 series was never FWD in America.

Not this particular generation. They are chubby little porkers though. They shared quite a bit the the 3 series of that time.

This seems to be about the right price, might be a little low. Wonder how carmax got it.

Valencia Orange.
Hand it over.
Ship it in an envelope if you have to.

I took that picture 3.5 years ago - still amazed at that collection hidden away in one place.
But yeah, if I’m getting a 1M it has to be Valencia Orange.

What about Canada? I could have sworn they were front driven, at least when they first dropped here a few years back.

In that case, sounds like a fun little beast. About 50k more than I’d like to pay though. Will check back in a decade.

That price would be okay IF it included the warranty. They probably want another $5-6k for the Maxcare warranty.

Whenever something like this pops up it’s usually a case of person selling it needs quick cash, or it belonged to someone who passed and family just wants it gone fast.
Their wholesale auctions usually have unique cars that they can’t resell.

Was a limited run with only about 300(?) sold in the US. Will be the same price and run ragged in a decade.

Im giving serious thought to a lesser, non-M, 1. Just moved to a new house with a fairly cramped garage, as in, not even enough room to walk all the way around my car or swing open the door to the utility room, and I think a 1-Series would get me an extra 4-5 ft of space at the front. Ticks some boxes - RWD, 4 seat coupe with a straight six, quite reasonably priced, not that old, and not hard to find in good shape.

Considering the MSRP of a 1M was $47k and they are now worth north of $50k I would say they are probably going to be even more expensive in a decade.

This was at a BMW dealer in late 2014 - all 4 were for sale, although 2 of them had major CP prices ($65-70k) on them. The four cars had a grand total of maybe 45k miles on them - the two CP’s were at 3k and 9k, something like that.

As cool as the 1M is, there’s just so many other cars I’d rather spend 57k on.

Bleh - CP buying this from a dealership that provides no insight into prior owners. Kicking myself for not buying a local non-nav 1M for $44K in January.
At the very least I could have flipped the car for sizable profit.

Shitty old M30 powered Bmws. It would take to much time to find listings for every model I’d like. Bavaria is at the top of the list right now, followed by e28. And just other random shitty cool cars. Like this death trap https://detroit.craigslist.org/okl/cto/d/52-chevy-rat-rod-project/6579939078.html
Or if you mean for 57k for one car an air cooled 911 carrera, whatever generation I could find first.

You clearly chose the better car, but you made the wrong decision because the 1M would be worth as much today as the day you bought it.

Really not partial, it would probably depend on what I can find at a good price, with good mileage, reasonably close to home.
I’m not really that far into it though. There’s some renovation work I want to finish up on the house, and I’d like to finish retiring the note on the car I have now before I flip it for something else.
But, a smaller car would make a lot of sense for me right now, and it looks like the 1-Series is literally the smallest car I could live with.
I’d also consider an ATS Coupe, but those are surprisingly hard to find in RWD with the V6, or maybe another Mustang, though the aluminum issues kind of put me off doing that again.

Yeah, the M3 was the car I always wanted, so that was one reason I went with it. I knew at the time that the 1M would hold its value better, but to realize that, I would have to sell it. Although, if i keep the M3 long enough, I’m sure it’ll go up in value, last of the N/A M cars. Plus there are only 1055 LCI manuals in the US/Canada.

You looking for a manual? I know when I was looking, there weren’t many of them for sale.
I found mine to be livable with, the back seat isn’t too cramped and you can fit a decent amount of stuff in the car with the seats folded down.

Probably not, honestly, though it really depends on what’s out there. With a used car, you can’t always be too picky on features, just look for the best one you can get in the price range that doesn’t require taking a week of vacation time to go get.
